I have bred dogs for over 30 years. My grandmother was a respected Boston Terrier Breeder in Western PA in the 1950's, so it is a family tradition. I veered away from the family breed and in the 1970's I bred Doberman Pinchers (Although I still have a love for Dobes, I no longer breed them), then in the 1980's added Boxers- all the while still interested in Bostons. Eleven years ago I started with French Bulldogs. Currently I have a champion Boston Terrier and French Bulldog line which I am very proud of. I am now able to offer show quality as well as pet quality in these breeds.
We stand 3 AKC champion Boston males and a 4th boy is showing now.. We are also showing a TOPPER granddaughter and in Frenchies I am currently showing little CEE CEE who is a home bred out of two of my best dogs.

My
"retirement" as it were has turned into a full time job raising
my dogs, the only job I have ever totally loved. It is
a full time job making sure the 20 dogs at Sturbridge have their
physical as well as their emotional needs met, and although it takes
most of the hours of the day, I enjoy every minute of it. Although
Sturbridge has an actual "kennel" where the dogs have their toys,
beds, and large grass yards; they all take their turn rotating into
the house where they get quality "couch" & one-on-one time with
the family. I have also taken up showing again (I showed years
ago until "life" got in the way) My little son Michael
is looking to be a great junior handler and my daughter in law Brandi
is also finding it fun to go to the dog shows. We love to
win.. but we show for FUN!
The Breeders in my Association are tops also. I wouldn't work with
ANY breeder who did not raise their dogs in much the same way I
do. I hope you have enjoyed the website and now have a better understanding
of the goals and purpose of the Sturbridge Breeders Association.
-MARLENE LIPPERT
This is one of the SBA's
best breeders. Mary and I are good friends as well as "partners"
in the French Bulldogs specifically. By trading bloodlines, puppies,
etc. We have a combined French Bulldog line that is top notch.
Mary is the kind of breeder who stays up all night with a new litter
of puppies if she fears there may be a problem. Recently, she had
a puppy born with a cleft palate, something that normally spells
death for a puppy. Mary rushed the puppy to the vet and had it surgically
repaired. When the puppy was 7 weeks old she found out it required
more surgery. Mary didn't even think twice, the puppy recieved exactly
the care it needed.
Raising healthy puppies is what Mary does best. She is also always
available for her customers before and after purchase for
any questions that might arise.
Gideon Fisher (Boston Terriers and Yorkshire Terrier hybrids)
Gideon is another great breeder . He and I have combined Boston bloodlines and have produced some excellent puppies. Gid is a real "researcher" -- I like to think with all my years of experience I pretty much know what I am doing in breeding great dogs, but Gid has taught me a few new tricks. If there is ever a question about the 'why" of something... be it a new "test" for dogs, or a vet procedure or parasite control, you can be sure Gid did the homework and has the answer. Gid is using my champion males at the moment as the sire of his pups.. but we are looking carefully for a great male pup for him to raise to show and breed. Gids small hybrid program get the same excellent care and dedication that the Boston program gets. The hybrids Gid has produced are heathy and well raised and they are making many a family happy with a great canine addtion.
NOTE on HYBRIDS-----Many purebred breeders tend to look "down" on anyone doing hybrids of any kind and will be quick to dismiss them as "bad breeders" . No matter what these people might think.. not EVERYONE wants a purebred---- and good healthy, well raised hybrids have their place in the dog world. Almost everyone over the age of 50 can probably remember a slower world, when people did not spay and neuter their dogs like today (TODAY is better by far in that respect.. as spaying and neutering is imperitive!) . It was in those days that some of the BEST pets anyone had came from the "mistake" litters that came to be because of intact dogs meeting up with each other. In todays world it is better by far to have a good responsible breeder do a deliberate hybid and do it right rather than allowing ANY dog to breed with ANY dog..
